Collective Conscious

So my friends the other day were talking about something called collective consciousness. It’s the idea that all thoughts are not individual things, but rather the individual conscious person is connected to a larger conscious and from this concious we draw our own ideas from, which is made from the public thoughts of others. I thought this was extremely interesting and related to Hooks. If collective concioious is true, it literally means that tolerance and ignorance are variables of the social environment, and not personally traits out of our control. That’s a pretty hopeful outlook I’d like to acquire.
