Speeches are like correspondence in a way. You are basically putting the same steps into writing a letter only the writer and the speaker become the same. Also it doesn’t require a reply from the audience and you get to choose the self you present in the speech.

Do you think writing a speech is linear or circular? I never thought of how a speech doesn’t require a response from the audience; good point! I see how correspondence and speeches are similar though. We write and reread a letter to make sure it’s coherent, just like we write and reread a speech to make sure it perfectly captures what point we’re trying to make.
